Welcome to my recipe site. I don’t intend for this site to be a real food blog. I’ve been developing and adapting recipes to my families taste for quite a number of years. As I get older, I can’t remember so I’m writing them down. I also get asked about certain recipes quite often (I personally think my Sloppy Joe recipe is soon-to-be-famous). So, here are a handful of recipes to share. Feel free to borrow, adapt and drop me a message if you find something you like.
I’m not a chef, but I’ve tried to format the site with recipes and methods. This is generally how I teach anything, including cooking. There’s recipes, which I see as a list of ingredients and steps. And then there’s the methods which are less step-by-step and more like general guidelines around how to do things. I’m no expert, so these are all just my ways of making and doing things. There are plenty of ways to slice an onion…
I don’t expect this site to ever reach the hands of anyone other than close friends and family. This is a project that I’ve been working on for years. It started life as a printable PDF written with LaTeX2e, then spent a very short lived life as an self-hosted Sphinx documentation site, and now it’s being migrated to a Hugo site. Hugo seems to be a better platform for actually sharing and organizing recipes, but I feel a little guilty at kicking Sphinx to the curb so quickly. I do appreciate the Sphinx project and it’s capabilities.
