As far as I can tell, the traditional dish called “chili” has a storied and varied history. While this recipe of “Chili with Beans” may not be very traditional, it’s what I grew up eating. This version doesn’t have much heat, but can be intensified by using different types of chili powder or even fresh chilis.

Potatoes and vegetables in a creamy soup is my wife’s idea of comfort food. I don’t really disagree. Served with some fresh baked bread, it really does remind me of home.

A slightly more American take on a traditional Italian soup, this “pasta and bean” soup has all the basic traditional elements with some non-traditional seasoning.
